Are the holidays a time of stress and angst for you and your significant other? Click to read these awesome ways to spend some quality time together this holiday season that you don't even have to leave your home for! These are 5 creative ways to enjoy a date night at home during the holidays :)

The holidays can be a time of angst and stress for many couples.

Between the never-ending shopping lists to tackle and parties galore to attend, it can leave even the best of us feeling stressed out to the maxed and not being as kind to our spouses as we usually are. It’s so important to make quality time with your significant other a priority during this busy time of year, to make sure you don’t lose sight of how much you actually do enjoy each others’ company.

While date nights out can be a lot of fun, I find myself wanting to hunker down with my hubby at home during the holidays and enjoy just relaxing together in our cozy little house. Spending a lot of money on going out together also doesn’t really appeal to us at a time of year when we are spending more on gifts, etc.

In the spirit of that, I wanted to share some creative ways to enjoy a date night at home during the holidays, and hope these at-home holiday themed date ideas will inspire you to enjoy more time with your spouse in the coming weeks! 🙂 [Read more…]

3 Things Every Parent Should Do to Prepare for The Future

September 23 by Christina Tiplea Filed Under: Family, Saving Money

Do you have young children or are you thinking about starting a family soon? Here are 3 things every parent should do to prepare for the future!

When I was pregnant and we were anticipating Little Miss coming into our lives, we did a few things to make sure that we were financially prepared for her arrival.

While we also tried to make sure we were emotionally prepared, there’s only so much you can do on that front before you just have to jump in and experience parenthood yourself 😉

Bringing another human into the world can be terrifying for all kinds of reasons, and I think that the financial aspect of it is what is worrisome to most. I know plenty of couples who say they are hesitant to start their family at this point because they are worried about being able to afford it. While I think that you can never be 100% ready for having kids, there are several things you can do to prepare yourself before they arrive.

Today I’m sharing the top three things my Hubby and I did to prepare for bringing Little Miss into the world! [Read more…]

11 Reasons to Own Less Stuff

September 21 by Christina Tiplea Filed Under: Cleaning & Decluttering, Intentional Living, Saving Money, Simple Living

Tired of feeling like your stuff owns you instead of you owning it? Here are 11 reasons to own less stuff and take back control of your life and your home!I have been on a complete purging rampage in our house lately.

Considering I’ve been in the process of hardcore decluttering our possessions for about a year now, I have been completely shocked by how much stuff still left that we never use.

It all just keeps getting shoved into closets or my office (doesn’t everyone have a signature room where they hide crap when guests come over?).

And I am sick of it. [Read more…]

How to Save Money on Kids Clothing Without Thrift Shopping

September 9 by Christina Tiplea Filed Under: Family, Saving Money

Looking for ways to dress your kids in cute outfits without spending a fortune to do so? Don't miss this awesome post to learn how to save money on kids clothing without thrift shopping!

A big thanks to PatPat for sponsoring this post!

I absolutely love having a toddler to dress in cute outfits and accessories (when she isn’t ripping headbands and bows off her head, of course).

And while I have a blast dressing Little Miss, I am also realistic in knowing that she will only be wearing an outfit for a few months before she quickly outgrows it. I appreciate the look of designer clothing on kids, but I’m too practical of a person to spend our money on expensive clothes for her. I would rather use that extra money to do fun things as a family, like going on our recent road trip or excursions around town! [Read more…]

Easy Ways to Take Professional Looking Photos

September 7 by Christina Tiplea Filed Under: Family, Saving Money

Learn how to take your own professional quality photos at home so you can save money while still having beautiful photos to display in your home. Read this great guide for easy ways to take professional looking photos on your own!Hi Friends!

I’m really excited about today’s post. I am joining some awesome fellow bloggers for the Make It Happen Blog Hop. Every month these ladies challenge themselves to try out something new and “Make It Happen”. This month was a photography challenge and I was thrilled when they invited me to participate!

Ever since Little Miss was born last summer, I’ve been trying to get better with my photography skills so that I can take some quality pictures of her myself.

Like any other parent, I want cute photos of my baby girl to proudly display in our home. But I just don’t find it very affordable to pay the average of $500 or so that most photographers near us typically charge for a single session. I completely admire their work and think they desire to be paid that amount, but I can’t stomach paying that amount for the several times every year that I’d want to get some nice pictures taken.
